190E 2.6 - rough idle when cold + hard start when warm + ABS light on

Greetings all,

I have been looking and researching in mercedesshop/forum for technical advices and recommendations to trouble-shoot my 1990 190E 2.6 137Kmi issues:

> rough idle at cold start
> slow pick-up
> the ABS light is on from time to time
> when warm, the car also stalls sometimes when stopping at traffic lights and I cannot restart it immediately but only after a few minutes. The same thing also happens when I turn off the engine and then try to restart it again right after. I need to wait for a few minutes before being able to restart the car.

Based on what I read so far, I have just ordered the OVP from PartShop today to replace mine, hoping this will make all my troubles away.

I'd truly appreciate if any of you could provide some other suggestions as of what to check and/ore replace in this case?

NOTE: I've just changed the Distributor Cap - Rotor - Spark Plugs - Water Pump - Thermostat - Fan Clutch - Heater Core - Brake Pads during last month major service.

Air idle stabilizer valve?

If the ABS is periodic, I'd suspect the OVP. I'd also check the charging. It's possible your voltage regulators brushes are getting short, but usually when this happens you get an ABS and an SRS light concurrently.

There will be more opinions on this I'm sure.

Check out Doc's and Steve B's thoughts in this thread:

Problem solved...

Finally, I took my car to a local MBZ dealer (Fletcher Jones NewPort) and after three days of diag, the mechanic figured out that was the Position Reference Sensor.
Got it replaced and the bug is gone...
