Stupid question, what is the (0) light for?

I had the dashboard light flicker on and off the other day, the one that looks like (0). I know it's a dumb question, but I dont know what its for. Thanx guys.

I thought it was this, but was not sure. The car just got out of the dealer and they said the front brakes were just fine, but the rear ones needed replacing. Is it only the front brakes that cause this light to go on?

It's a 1991 500SL btw.

Could be a fault in the sensor wiring or the sensor itself.

Sensors on both front and rear pads will turn the light on.

My wear lite comes on if I drive on a wet road that has just been salted. Goes out when it dry.

Ive been noticing that my light only comes on after I get a carwash, then after a couple of hours doesnt light up anymore. Could it be moisture affecting this?

Got a great explanation why the brake sensors go on when the car is wet from my independent MB mechanic.
