I am about to change the belt tensioner in my 86 300e. Before I start I would like to know which way you turn the hex. socket screw to remove the fan/viscofan clutch, clockwise or counterclock wise? The MB book is not specific in this matter. Any other tips that can help me? I have the special tool to counterhold the pulley.
Thanks! J. Hidalgo |

Its a normal bolt. Left to loosen right to tighten.

Use a 90 degree pick to clean the bolt out before taking it loose. It will strip easily and can be caused by a dirty head. Be sure to put the bolts back in the same holes that they came out of...They are specific.
