My W114 has the old-fashioned non-electric coolant temp gauge. The manuals say that to remove the instrument cluster I have to remove the sensor from the engine block and pull it through the firewall. Sounds like this requires draining the block and radiator, also.
Is this in fact the case? Or is there some way to detach the pipe from the back of the gauge? TIA |

Why not pull out the sensor and install a temporary plug? You might loose a couple of drops.

Thanks. It does look easy to fit a stopper of some kind in there. |
