Headlight washer motor-wrong direction
Just bought a 190E 1993 w/ headlight wipers. The Right one starts motion the wrong way and drops below the headlight and sticks. I can obviously adjust the wiper 90 degrees but the wipers is then resting vertical when not in motion and looks well....da. I hope you understand what I'm trying to discribe. The motor is for the (R) right side, mounted correctly, but the motion direction STARTS the wrong way. Is there a way to rewire or something so the wiper starts in the other direction.
I hope you can invision my delima? If not, think about it and you'll see what I'm trying to say. Thank you all in advance for your help. Bill |

re-Headlight washer motor-wrong direction
I see that many are looking at this thread, but no responce. Is the answer that difficult or have I confused those reading it? I can certainly understand the latter. If so let me know and I'll somehow restate it.
Thanks again, Bill |

So you are saying the wiper is working in reverse direction? Check to make sure the B+ is going to the right terminal on the motor. If the leads for gound and B+ are reversed - the motor could be running in reverse.

I agree a DC motor going backwards means the wires are connected backwards. Swap the 2 connections.

Headlight wipers
Yes, the blade swipes down first before swiping over the lens. Of course the wiper gets stuck under the lens before starting back up. The blade should start up over the lens then sweep back the other way. I think you know what I'm saying.
There are 4 wires (blue, red, black, green) coming from the motor to a 4 pin connection before going on through the wire harness. Which do I switch? Do I switch them at the connection? The connector opens and the wires can be switch there. Thanks for your input. Bill |

I suggest you do a search on the forum for items related to headlamp wipers. I saw one recently that had photos showing how to repair or replace the headlamp wiper motor. The point I remember was that there was some note about reassembling the motor assembly correctly or it would run backwards. It had to do with a mechanical assembly step, not a wiring issue. So if my recollection is correct (no guarantee there!), it may be that someone disassembled your wiper motor and reassembled it incorrectly.
