560 SL Heater/AC Fan I believe that I have a handle on the location of this fan and have been told that I may not need to replace the fan just because it is noisy. The noise started about a month ago and comes and goes. Is there a part that might cause the racket, or am I looking at a new fan? What kind of DIY project is this? Thanks for the help! |

The blower is under a plastic plate secured with screws on the top of the firewall. It is a fairly easy replacement. Be sure to put some penetrating oil on the four screws holding the blower in as they rust and can break easily. You might have a broken "cage" causing the noise rather than the motor. Rebuilt units are readily available from Partshop and other suppliers. |
