need help on purchasing a 190D

A friend of mine is looking for a 190D for a beater commuter car. What is the better the 84-85 2.2 or 87 2.5 Turdo Diesel. Any advice is appreciated. Also mileage info would be nice.

I can't think of why anyone would prefer a 2.2 to a 2.5t. Maybe a die hard MT person who doesn't want the AT in a 2.5t.

The 2.5 t is very preferable, but quite rare.

Mileage info is something like this: It'll go forever.

Good point Russ. I thought Martin was looking for xx mpg vs yy mpg. I think the difference in mpg is negligible if not in the 2.5t's favor. Consider that the heavier 300SDL gets better milage than the 126 300SD.
