Self locking nuts and bolts

I was wondering if anyone could explain the theory behind self locking nuts and bolts.

The reason I ask is I think my drive shaft was not properly alligned when I had the flex discs changed, and I would like to undo the bolts, fix it up and put it back together, do the bolts still lock after they are undone and tightened again?

How do they even lock like this? what makes them do that?

If they only work once, where can I get replacements?

TIA

These bolts are designed to be used once, but i have seen people use them over and over The nuts and bolts have a plastic/ teflon coating on them. The first time you use them it takes maximum strength to over come the plastic insert. If you continue to use them it takes less strength to seat them and overcome the plastic.

You can reuse these nuts/bolts but treat them with locktite They will not back off
