w140 question

apparently these cars are designed to start in 2nd gear... NOT first...anyone know whats the logic behind that?
And under what condition/s is the 1st gear engaged, if ever??

Been that way for years

It was explained to me that the actual 1st gear will accomidate excessive weight.

Normal weight is addressed by 2nd gear for starting.

SO if the car starts in 2nd gear - all is well.

For more info, check out . . . . .

Also check my page; menu #22 for pics of installation in my car. It's a great addition for any W140. I highly recommend it!
