What scanner to buy?
After taking the air cleaner off an Astro van yesterday to install an oil cooler, the check engine light came on. So here we go to a strictly mechanical garage to get the light reset. Is there a scanner out there that will allow us to reset Check engine, airbag, and ABS lights? Those are the codes we usually encounter in the autobody field and usually take them to a dealer to get reset. Or is this a case of having a little knowledge will get us in deeper trouble?

Hey PJ on the astro you probaly left the IAT (INTAKE AIR TEMP) sensor unplugged .It is a small sensor in the airfilter hose or housing. If so plug it in and the light will go off.
What type of cars do you primarly work on and what kind of work.It makes a difference. If mostly domestic and asian cars get the snap-on scanner. It is very good |
