Been restoring a 450SL and had to replace fuel distributor (Bosch rebilt). Starts fine cold, good idle speed, but when opening the throttle, car runs rough and backfires. This occurs wether engine is hot or cold. Once you move past this point, from about 1500/2000 rpm up, it seems to run fine. Also, idle is fast when engine is hot, and if I back it down to 750, then car will stall when in gear and stopped...idle sinks below 400.
Checked for vacuum leaks, none found. Any other thoughts or directions? Gary Ludwick |

Have you checked the CO? It sounds like its too lean. Either the idle CO is off or the control pressure is too high. But then it could be ignition timing too...
