190E Wiper Conversion

Hello. First, thanks to MTI for a terrific response to my first post re: Exhaust.
Question please. I have a early model 1985 190E with the dual bladed wiper that parks on the passenger side. I have seen later 190E's with the single blade that parks on the drivers side. Can I convert my 85 over to the newer style without a Ton of Hassle. Hopefully, it's just a bolt on swap!?
Thanks You Again;
Richard

Unfortunately you will need an updated hood.

Although the single wiper was introduced on the 190E, the dual wipers might be considered a "collectors" item.

Hello. In as much as I live on the Oregon Coast where wipers are used almost everyday, the Collectors value is of secondary importance for my apllicaction. As this is my first Mercedes, I ask your patience on what may be a naive or dumb question. I do not understand why I would have to update the hood; unless, more clearance is needed between wiper arm - hood panel.

Not to mention that the windshield has a different "cut-out" on the bottom.

So the list so far is, new hood, new windshield, new wiper and motor assembly, and at least the replacement of the vent grill under the windshield. That list would buy a lot of Rain-X and wiper refills!

One Last Wiper Question

Thank You All for Your Info & Help. The present wiper system works fine & I acquired a complete 2 bladed system for backup/parts/etc; just in case. One last question on wipers:
Is the wiper linkage adjustable, ie. shorten or lengthen the arc? You'll all be happy to know that a service manual will show up shortly & I will be able to leave you alone. I enjoy the 190e i purchased. I just finished a 1986 Saab Turbo that is now all SPG spec, except for aero panels. Not needed IMHO. For the 190e, I will just refurbish & enjoy. Next project on it is to R/R Sunroof for guide & tube cleaning/lube. It is DIRTY in there :-(
Thanks Again;
Richard

my friend cut out his hood bracing, but it makes the hood flimsy. But you can do it, maybe find another car with a good hood with a single blade set up.
