Gotta love Chicago winters

3" of wet heavy snow on my 94' E320 this morning. I got lazy and tried to use the wiper as a snow brush....didn't work. In fact now my wiper doesn't work at all, had to take the Jeep to work. Any suggestions as to what I may have destroyed?

The first item that I would check is a blown fuse.

You can blame the Chicago snow storm on me - I removed my snow tires last Thursday and put on the summer tires.

Isnt it interesting how summer tires have the strange ability to bring drastic changes in weather? Last week all sunny and 70's, I put on the summer wheels/tires and woke up to everything covered in ice yesterday. We need to learn how to use this to our advantage. If we all planned a "change to summer tires day" then we would all know it was coming. ;-)

I hope you replaced the fuse with the same amp rating.

A common problem people have is to replace a blown fuse with one with a higher amp rating so the new fuse doesn't blow. What they don't realize is that the fuse did it's job by preventing an overcurrent to the device connected to it.

Just be glad that I didn't "summerize" my snow blower yet- then we could have seen over a foot of snow. You have to admit that the recent snow/ice storm makes for a post card scene with the ice covered tree branches.

Thanks for the advice on the fuses, it just so happens that I bought five boxes of Euro fuses for the Porsche at a Trakk Auto that was going out of business. I am glad that the MB uses the same as there were no spares left in the fuse box. I try to do all the work on my cars and generally enjoy being in the garage. Since I have only owned the car for about 3000 miles, I have not needed any major service on the MB and have so far done all the scheduled service work. Give me a Porsche and I can rebuild an engine, give me a Mercedes and I assumed that I had fried the wiper motor or gears when it was only a fuse.
There is a MB shop in the northern suburbs (Winnetka) called Europa that has a really good reputation.
