Need a bit of help, am about to remove the right hand cylinder head and am unsure of the following

I have read somewhere that there are two types of head bolts and that the stretch bolts need to be replaced, one type is a spline drive and the other hexagon, but need to know which one is which.

Also understand that one type of bolt has a torque setting and the other is based on an initial torque and then 90 degrees.

Will I need to purchase any special tools to do the job properly.

You will need the "special" socket. I got mine from www.snapon.com. I can dig through the records if you need the p/n. Anyway, it should be pretty straight forward to find it on their site.

I usually go with new fasteners for this application.

Your right, I should replacing the head bolts anyway but want to make sure I have all my ducks in a row before I start the job, Like I mentioned earlier, have read a few posts on the subject in the past and have tried all manner of search options but cant find them again. From memory it addressed the initial torque and subsequent rotation ( think 90 degrees ) also address the two different types of bolts. There also appears to be a number of special tools, the one that is “C” shaped, is that the one I need, can I get away with straight allen sockets for the rest ?
