Need help electric problems E320 94
I have a 94 E320 with 91,000 miles, and today I was driving the car and the radio went without sound, not off but without sound, also the seatbelts ligth came intermitent and the power locks wont work. I have the great idea to turn off the engine and when i was going to start the car again it wont start, it was if you have the car in a gear, I put the car in neutral and nothing, then put again in park and start but with the radio without sound and the problems that i mentioned. I drive the car about 1 hour with the same problems then just go right. Can anyone have been thru this? any help would be good? also have the indicator lamp on and I check the car and dont have any ligth bad

I'm a newbie but make sure fuses are ok. As for sound, did you have something in trunk that might have damaged sound speakers?

I had the same problem with my car. 1994 e320. I was driving, then all of a sudden the radio had no sound, the locks didn't work, and the seatbelt light was flashing, I think the interior lights came on too. Then I turned the car off, back on, and no problem. It was very sporatic, but took place within a week.
Then I came across not being able to start my car. My mechanic checked around, didn't find anything, but replaced some fuses. I also had my starter and ring gear replaced at that time, due to the fact that my ring gear was bent and making a horrible sound when starting. I haven't had a problem since. Don't know if it is fixed for good, or just in hiding. If you find out more about this, let me know. Thanks, Matt 94 E320 150k |

The fuses are notorious for causing all sorts of problems like this. They say you should just change all the fuses. I am in the midst of doing just that because of my car being rendered inoperable by one of them going bad. They may look ok but they can crack and cause sporadic problems. You may also want to clean the contacts with some fine sandpaper and use dielectric grease to prevent oxidation. Fuse #5 on W124 is the instrument cluster among other things and the alarm is wired into it possibly causing the sporadic non-starts...

Hi,
I second jsmith! Change all the fuses. Check the service manual for their locations. Regards, |

guys,
remember to update this thread with your results. you know, i suspected throttle actuator problems because my cruise control was working only half the time. i was trying to get a correlation between when that happened and when electrical gremlins were acting up as evidenced by my outside temp LCD's behavior (it would wink in and out). i thought there was some sort of pattern. this winter i had sporadic hard start problems which i suspected were some sort of electric / electronic component failure. after i cleaned out the contacts and replaced fuses #5 & #6, my car seemed to run so much better. instant starts in the morning and my LCD doesn't wink out anymore. oh yeah, my cruise control has been working pretty consisitently!

Thanks to all of you for your recomendations, Yesterday I was going to start the car and the car wont start, so I check the fuses and at first they look all fine, but I change them all and clean the contacts and since then my car is working perfect again. I would let you know if the problems repeat but I think not, because I use it all day without problems, Thanks
