A couple of months ago I posted a topic re power loss, and was advised by MBDOC to replace my 70A alt (86 300E) with an 80A alt from an '89 or newer 300E. The wiring is different, but apparently can be reworked without too much trouble. I checked into buying a new wiring harness, but it is CAN$120! So, I would really appreciate if one of you experts out there (perhaps you've done this before...) can give me some more explicit info on how to rewire the new alternator.

Thanks, as always,
Nick

I have done this and it works. Just get a real strong eye type connector that is the correct size to fit over the big bolt and solder the two big wires together in that pin and connect to the big bolt. The small wire goes on the small bolt. That's it.
