Need A/C wiring help! 123 chassis.

I have been troubleshooting the A/C in my 1882 240D. It has the manual system with the only control being the "edge" wheel that cycles the compressor. When I pulled the switches to get the "edge" wheel out, I discovered that the back of the wiring terminal had popped off and the wires had come out. Now I don't know which goes where in order to reassemble. Can anyone help? There are two connections, one is 2 contacts which is OK. The one that popped is the 5 pin connector. While I am at it---can anyone tell me how to check the operation of the this control so I can know wheter its OK, or not.
Thanks to all.
Michael
