k1k2 accumulator kit?
Hi all, just wondering if any of you have any knowledge about this kit for a w124 91 model for my transmission.
(flaring between 2/3rd gears) Thanx |
Hi.
I just did the K1 accumulator kit on my 95 E320. It had the famous 2-3 slip. It's not difficult to do. I bought the kit for $5 and dropped my trans pan and replaced it. The 2-3 slip did get better. I also put in Mobil 1 at the same time, so I don't know whether it was all due to K1 kit. If you have questions, let me know. Richard |
Odds are if it's been flaring for awhile, it'll have some pretty good clutch damage. However, the kit will keep it alive for awhile. One word of caution, KEEP THE OLD SPRINGS/VALVE! Otherwise, upon overhaul, it'll bark the tires on the shift.

Thanx for your advice joe p, sounds like you talk from experience:D
joe p do you sell this kit?How much?im in Australia Richard, did it fix the slip or did it just get better(worth it?) Also where did you buy the kit from and what is it called? DIY? How long? Thanx for all replies! Chris in Oz! |
I should be able to score the part number, the damn shipping would be 10 times the price of the kit. :D
126-270-44-77, same kit for k1 or k2. , that and a pan gasket along with a pic of the accumulators location in the valvebody is it. Front left side (passenger to you) lower v/b, 4 skrews almost square cover, all that is behind it is k2 for 3rd gear. The spring kit has a plastic valve, 2 springs and a spacer in it, just put it in like it came out. Drop the bowden cable 3 turns and run it. Joe |
Can someone elaborate a little on what this component is, what it does, and what problem and which cars it attempts to alleviate? I don't have a 3-4 slip in my car (1990 w124 coupe), but if I do some day, I'd like to know how to go about fixing it and what parts I need.

I'm just trying to get as much info. about it from other members b4 I DIY. |
Is this part something you replace for preventative maintanence reasons, or only if/when you get a 2-3 flair. What transmission is this part applicable to?

GregS, only if/when you get a 2-3 flair. If you dont have a flare dont take any notice of this.
W124 300E24V transmission 722.3 |
Sorry for the late reply.
My 2-3 flair has disappeared. Although there is a slight hint under WOT, in normal driving, I don't see any slippage. I bought it from the local MB dealer. Had to special order it though.... Richard |
Sorry Richard but what is WOT?
|
WOT = Wide Open Throttle

Richard, would you have the part number for the kit you bought?
or the exact name? Chris. |
I don't have it with me, but you can do a search on the forum. It is called k1 spring kit. My dealer didn't know the kit, but when I gave them the number they were able to order it from Germany.

I was reading a Bently shop manual the other day, and it said the K1 valve can be the cause of delayed upshifts. Just thought I would mention it in case someone is having this problem. I assume this kit would also resolve such a problem
