Euro-light H4 bulb upgrade suggestions?
I've converted to the E1 lights and have what I believe is just the standard wattage H4 bulb.
The question is: What sort of benefit could I expect from upgrading to some other type of H4 replacement? I realize that I'd prolly have to upgrade the wiring/relay, etc. but am unsure as to cost/benefit of an upgrade. Is there maybe a better performing H4 bulb of the same wattage that's simply from a diff. manufacturer?

I finished up the final portion of getting my Euro lights in good shape. With standard 55/60 H4 bulbs AND PROPER ADJUSTMENT, these lights are beyond description.
It's ALL in the reflector shape. If you have 124 Euro lights already and still are not happy, then my suggestion is to start working on adjusting them properly. I drive under what I believe to be about the worst night time driving conditions you will encounter. Way out in the country, narrow & winding farm roads with LOTS of deer and other wildlife to dodge. It is 20 miles of this road to the highway. I traverse that road twice daily, and in the Winter it is dark in both directions. Under these conditions, my standard bulb, properly adjusted Euros ABSOLUTELY GET THE JOB DONE! Even using relays and beefing up wiring, you will still have extra heat inside the lamps that must be dissipated. The 80/90's that were in another set of Euro lights that I had for a different car had melted wiring and plastic inside the assemblies. Do you really want to risk your expensive Euro lights like this? I realize that in the Star magazine they outlined doing this upgrade, but I personally see it as an upgrade that will shorten the life of your headlights. My $0.02, |

I appreaciate your input. I didn't say that I *wanted* to install higher wattage bulbs, I just don't know if they would really benefit me or not. If there's any sort of significant risk involved with using the higher wattage bulbs, then I would not like to take that route. I'm simply looking for suggestions.

The safetest, easiest and most cost effective for upgrade from standard 55/60 H4 bulbs is Philips Vision Plus which is the same wattages. The cost for a pair is $28, shipping included, from:
http://www.autolamps-online.com/home.htm I had VP H4 on my Lexus LS400 about year and a half ago, and I can say that they are much brighter and whitter than the standard bulbs. Relays and beefing up wiring are to reduce power lost from battery/alternator to headlight bulbs.
