Lubricating (Used) Replacement Wiper Transmission?
 

Following "plastic-part-failure" induced angst and rage ($0.10 non-replaceable part failed on a $400 assembly), I have ordered a used replacement from Pat at Potomac German Auto in Frederick, MD.

Question at this point, is, how do I lubricate the linkage sockets in order to get as much as possible out of this replacement?

Does anyone have an advice on whether to lubricate, how to lubricate and what to lubricate with?

Removal of the broken assembly was rather straightforward ... any tips on installation? Alignment of the wiper arms?

Have reviewed the CDROM ...

Thanks, csnow, but was for different failure mode on a different type of wiper assembly.

Mine (W126) has a multiarmed transmission with several rotation points ... two of which are steel ball in plastic socket ... her is where it breaks ... the thumb sized plastic sockets crack at the lip area, allowing the steel ball to pop out ... plastic socket is not replaceable ... no other option but to expoxy it some for temporary fix and then replace THE ENTIRE ASSEMBLY! Opting for a used one at $100 is painful, particularly when the failure is due to a 10 cent plastic (should have been aluminum) socket ...
