W126 Euro light frustration
Had a terrible morning at my shop today what with my mechanic and I trying to figure out the correct way to wire the 6-pin euro connectors. The DEPO lights don't come with any instructions ( ugh ) . Our first and only attempt resulted in the fogs coming on when the low beams were selected and vice a versa. At which time my mechanic got a bit snippy and more or less blew me off by saying he wouldn't do it unless I could provide the correct diagram. I did have a pin/color assignment written up by a member here ( barrie ) but it was for a W124 conversion. I felt we probably could have sorted it out had one of us know what color wires corresponded to the lowbeams and fogs but I wasn't sure and he was in a pretty surly mood.
I've done many a search here about Euro's and most of the info pertains to W124's and other models. My situation begs two questions... Can anyone here provide me with the correct wire color to pin# diagram for W126's? Also, Will the USA wipers fit with the DEPO's without having to fabricate any brackets or redrilling the panel below the lights? I really appreciate any feedback on this as I'm resigned to selling them if I can't sort this out.

Barrie's pin diagram while for the 124 works perfectly for the 126's, at least through '86. Likely error is the green wire has faded and you think it is the white. Getting those swapped could give the result you experienced.
The only way the US wipers will work is by adding a bracket to offset the wiper motor. I used a short piece of perforated strap which allowed the proper offset.

An alternative for the wipers is to get Euro arms and swap them left for right. Not a perfect fit but at least they're not in the way of the beam.

Can't really blame Depo for not having instructions since the units were designed to replace Euro lights, so there was no need to include instructions or any US to Euro wiring harness. What we really should be doing is complaining to the US DOT for making euro light owners "outlaws" for having better safety equipment.

relief just a day away
hi folks
i just ordered today an installation kit for the depos it includes the bulbs the right wiring plugs WITH THE INSTRUCTIONS on the conversion. as soon as i get the package i'll let you guys know tks craig

Hey, if you live in Connecticut I would love to help you do this project. I just did one on a 190e what a difference in look and lighting much brighter. I agree with someone had mentioned earlier about the DOT and their bureaucracy. But all you need is a volt meter and know how to use it. What I did was unplug the original 4-prongs, the brown wire is usually the ground, you can check it by measure the resistance of the brown wire against the car metal body, it should read less than one Ohm. The other three wires are for Fog lamp, low beam and high beam. You then one at a time turn the switch from the car to low beam, then go and measure the voltage whichever wire has approx. 12Volt is your low beam. do the rest the same way and this is how you identify which wire is what. You then transfer the info you have onto the 6-prongs.
