2.6 headbolts

I 'm currently in the process of gathering all my parts for my 92 300e 2.6. just got the cylinder head back from the machine shop. I have a question about the cylinder head bolts, the ones that came off the car did not have washers on them and when, I ordered from a local parts supplier they asked me if I needed washers, kinda confused! I am an apprentice honda technician and have done cylinder heads on hindas but never on a benz. I am limited to the shopkey it really doesnt tell you much. would really appreciate it if someone could help me on this! would also like to find out how to install the rocker arms in sequence, I know the cam lobes would have to be facing down, 1,6 2,5 3,4 . I dont have the mbz manual, I would appreciate any help!

Some bolts use "loose" washers, other have 'em incorporated into the bolt. Which version did yours have? If it had the loose ones, reuse 'em. (the washers that is)

Hi,

No manual?

May humbly suggest you at least go on ebay and get the CD?

The pattern for torqueing the head bolts is a trip:-)

Just a thought....

Good luck,

There's no special sequence for bolting down the rocker arms ... just make sure the cam lobe is set to TDC. Also, you'll get resistance on 2-3 rocker assemblies, (others will have valves in closed position) be very careful not to strip any bolts (easy to do with an aluminum head) .... screw down each bolt carefully by hand first, then move around to each corner and screw bolts in equally until assembly is flush.

Here's the torque sequence. Make sure you do the two 90 degree angle torques also! Good Luck
