Have a general interest question regarding the way the speedo gets its info.
On my 99 CLK, it seems the speedometer gets its feed from the front wheels. If the rears are spinning, there is no change in speed. It also seems to work in reverse (reads a positive speed). This is unusual in my experience (I have owned mostly North American cars so far, sorry). Anybody know the tech on this ? Just curious. |

It reads off of the ABS sensors in the front (L/F)to be exact. Since the ABS sensor outputs the same signal forward and reverse, it will always read the same.
