Warming Coil in Washer Fluid Resevoir 89 300e

This coil developed a pin hole and the results were quite spectacular. I called the local MB dealer Still waiting to hear re cost, availability. Said it would be a special order. Anyone have any experience with this odd little device. Do I have to replace the whole resevoir or just the coil. Looks like the coil will come out.
Comments, ideas, secret information from anyone.

Most just bypass it and clean out the tank and fill with alcohol and water.

They dont show them on there web site,but were available in there catalog.

I've searched the archive but haven't found anything on this: can I re-aim my washer fluid nozzles? My driver's side nozzle sprays a bit too high.

Also, what triggers the washer fluid heater? Is there a thermostat for it or what turns it on? Does it heat the nozzles or somewhere inside the reservoir? Thanks,

Robert, I am not sure where the heat for the nozzles comes from, however, the snow that landed on my car today (over 6 inches) was neatly melted away around both nozzles. I was impressed... Oh, forgot to mention, I did not move or drive the car at all today. So, either something is very wrong, or its automatic depending on outside temp...Also noticed you are from Bethlehem...grad of Moravian College...1987...

Guys, here's the dope on that heater. It is always on. It's an aluminum coil that heats the washer fluid, so when you spray, hopefully, it will melt ice on the nozzles, windshield, etc. I know it circulates all the time, 'cuz mine let go the the fall when it was about 80 degrees outside. As far as I know, you can re-aim the nozzles by inserting a fine diameter wire, (common pin will do) and move the little nozzle orifice around until you get it where you want. A bit of trial and error is required here.

Thanks for the replies. I think that the heater would eventually drain the battery if it was indeed always on; i.e., powered up even with the ignition off? Mine seems to warm up pretty fast, but I've never felt the spray to check after first starting up.

That heated washer fluid is very welcome for clearing the windshield fast in our current wintry (10 deg F) weather. BTW, Hunter, I was at Lehigh U., class of 1980 and I had a gray 1973 MB 230.6 around 1987-88.

No No No, the heating coil in the resevoir circulates coolant from the engine. It is not electrical. It's a fancy little piece of plumbing inside the washer bottle. Runs off of the bypass side of the cooling system so it gets hot at about the same rate as the engine side of the thermostat. As far as I can tell, there is always coolant flowing thru that little tube so I guess that it's always "on".
