I've been seeing alot of info about the single row timing chain on the early 380sl's. Did an 83' 500sl(euro) have the single or double row chain?
Also the manufacture date on the door jamb says 4/83. The tenth digit of the VIN is a 1(one). I called MB North America they said the car was an 84'. Anybody have any insight. Thank you in advance Marc [This message has been edited by Marc (edited 01-25-2000).] |
The only cars that had the single-row chain were the USA version 380 series. All of the European cars had double-row chains. Since the 107 chassis 500SL was never imported as a USA version, they all have double-row chains.
