Owner-induced problem - 560 SL

Went to replace fuel accumulator thinking it might be the cause of hard starting hot. While there, I noticed a leaking fuel pump and decided to change out both fuel pumps. the accumulator and the fuel filter. Now the idles well, and accelerates sluggishly up to about 3,200 rpm at which point it appears to starve out for fuel. Also noticed surging while accelerating. If you lift your foot off the gas it picks up slightly. Classic fuel starvation symptoms. What could I have done to cause this? All lines appear be unkinked.

I am guessing here. Could it be a clogged fuel line? Could the pump have been leaking due to back pressure caused by a clog?

Are both fuel pumps running (duh!!!, mundane question, but you never now...)

Owner induced fuel starvation

Thanks for the thought on the fuel pumps, Henry. I had already checked, and they both seemed to be operating. The car ran fine before, and still idles and accelerates fine up to about 2,500 rpm. I'm kind of stumped, and wonder if the system needs to be bled somehow (air-bound?). Also tried opening the fuel tank cap in case the vent was somewho clogged and set up a vacuum condition in the tank. Still no go.
