Hi again,

I was wondering if anyone can tell me if my 1985 230ce had central locking. It doesn't now, but we have discovered what appears to be a solinoid in the rear boot (trunk?) indicating that it may have done in the past. The drivers door has a different key to the ignition/passenger door/boot so we think it must have been changed and this may have been when CL was disabled if it had it.
Was central locking standard or an option on these models in Europe?

Sorry Can't remember the chassis number off hand, but it's a 123 if that matters. I'll get the full number tommorow if needed.

More than likely this car did have the central locking feature. To find out, just pull the carpet up on the passenger's side and see if there is a bundle of yellow vacuum lines there. If so, you did have the central locking system.
