gas in oil
will a bad fuel pump cause gas to mix with engine oil? the car is a 72 250.

Is that FI? If so, is there a return hose from the fuel pressure regulator to the breather? That would likely indicate a ruptured diaphram.
Another possibility is fuel leaking past the rings when the engine is cold. This is normal to a degree, but it should burn off after 10 mi or so of driving. Lots of short trips without the engine warming up could cause the smell. Steve |
A hole in the fuel pump's diaphragm will cause fuel to get into the oil.

it is not FI. when I get the time I will check the fuel pump. snow and mud here. thanks for your replies.
