W210 Windshield & Body Trim

A large stone cracked my '98 E320's windshield at the very bottom passenger side corner. In addition, the stone made a small chip in the approx. 1 inch wide plastic trim piece that runs from the bottom of the windshield/roof pillar, up to the roof, and ends at the back of the roof.

Does the piece of trim have to be removed to replace the windshield?

My insurance may cover replacement of the trim, but since it's such a small chip, I don't want to create more of a problem than it's worth by replacing it. If the trim is replaced, I suppose it's possible the color won't match as well as the original or maybe won't fit as well as the original factory part.

Since the chip is small I could easily touch it up and forget about it. What do you think? Thanks.

i'd say leave it alone. also, windshield crack
may also be fixed with liquid sealant depending
on how large it is. let the pro do it.

i've had bad experiences fixing small items that
created bigger problems.
