i have a 1988 560SEL and i need access to the switches on the center consel, more specificly the fader switch. How do i get the wood face off without chiping anything, I've had the raido out all ready and my problem must be farther down the line. I also need to test out the switch for the passenger side window, it may be bad.
Thanks for your time. ------------------ |

Pull the ashtray out and the change pocket below it. Then the wood will slide forward and out. Good luck.

As to the window switches, you can probably plug the connector for one of the other windows into the switch in question. Mine were intermittent on the driver's side window in my 1977 300D, and I was able to remove the switch and disassemble it, clean its internal parts, and reassemble it. Just watch out that you don't lose any of the little springs and little parts.
