Timing Chain Replacment Question

I am having the timing chain on an 1984 190E 2.3 replaced. A friend of mine is doing the job, and he wants to just replace the chain links. I was wondering if it is okay to do this, or would it be BETTER to just get a new chain all together? I was thinking get a new chain because maybe there will be another weak spot in the old chain and it will break again. I thought that if he put a NEW chain on it, it woudn't do this.

Please let me know what you think.

Put in a new chain. The old one will brake again, sooner or later.
Also check conditions of all chain slide rails and replce if necessary.

Never Reuse an old chain! It's already proven that it will fail. WTF? It's not like they are expensive...I think I paid 30 dollars for mine, the links are a couple bucks. Why not put twenty something more with it and have a new and reliable chain that will give you 100k miles? Poor economy friend, it will end up costing you a new head or parts for it.
