W140 questions

After spending the winter outside next to the garage, my 400SEL is going to get treated to a complete fluid change and tune up.
Anyone knoe the easiest way to drain the coolant and/or location of the petcock for the radiator?
Also how much of a bear is it to put in new plugs and wires?

I replaced the plugs in my '94 S420 and it was a smooth and easy operation. You simply remove the air cleaner and center protection plastic pieces and the plugs are right there. They are deep but with the proper spark-plug socket and extension, easy to remove and replace. The spark-plug wires, likewise are in easy reach (though I didn't feel the need to replace them). I'd say my '94 S420 (140 body V-8) was one of the easier cars to change plugs on (ending in a preposition).

Thanks!

Thanks a lot for the info JF. I think I read on here that copper core (non-platinum) are the way to go, so Ill put some in this weekend. I always found that a set of plug wires will go about 50,000 miles and my car has 140,000 and Id chance to guess they are still the originals. Anyone got a spark plug recommendation?

140 tune up

while you are at it look at the rotors and caps the are on the front of the engine, green corrosion is a sign of impending doom. Mine were replaced at 70k, the car would strart and sometimes would barely move, it seems the computer sees something and retarts the throttle.
P.S. The rotors and caps are expensive !
I loosend the lower hose, and drained, just did not feel comfortable twisting a plug, it will give you the oppurtunity to feel the hoses for ?
