'77 280E Wipers
My windshield wipers and washer do not work. Was going to replace the wiper motor and a friend told me it could be the switch. The switch is located on the steering column along with all the other functions of the multiple duty switch, all the other functions work, could it still be the switch? Will I have to replace the whole assembly? Have already checked the fuses and they are fine. Any one with helpful info please respond.

usadave,
The control arm replacement is relatively easy. One or two hard to reach screws, but the rest is all modular. I don't know that this will fix your wiper problem. I replaced mine to correct a turn signal indicator that did not stay in position. Good Luck. |
The overly complex turn signal/high bean/wiper control arm is not very reliable and could definitely be your problem.
I installed a new unit on my old W123 300TD to cure a high beam problem. Easy to do, just open the underdash cover on the drivers side and you should be able to do it. An service mananger once told me that one of problems with this unit is that is too long, and drivers tend to hit when they get in their cars. |
