I have a "pre-owned" 190 2.6 with 75K - when it shifts from 1st to 2nd, the shift is hard and sudden- after the car has been driven (30minutes or more) the shift from 1st to 2nd is more smooth, however there is a "rubber band" type sound coming from what sounds like the rear differential
This is my first MB - so maybe I'm reading too much in to these noises - I drive a Ford(sorry not my choice, it is a work van) f250 and it shifts effortlessly- The car is going in for 75K maintenance on monday - Any help you guy's can offer is greatly appreciated- LOVE THIS SITE!!! |
The 1-2 is held for a short period on some models to allow for quicker heat up and lower exhaust emmisions.
The noise from the diff is seen often in this model and is big$ to repair. ------------------ Benzmac: 1981 280GE SWB 1987 16V ASE CERTIFIED MASTER AUTO TECHNICIAN SERVICE MANAGER FOR 14 BAY FACILITY MERCEDES SPECIALIST 8 YRS PARTNER IN MERCEDESSHOP.COM |
