Loose steering column
 

Today I just noticed that when I tried to use the turn signal that the stalk had about 3/4" of play. The steering wheel itself is not loose, it can be adjusted forward backward up down with no problem. Only the turn signal stalk, and the cruise control stalk which moves with the turn signal as a unit, is loose.

Can somebody tell me how to fix this, and whether it is dangerous to drive w/o repair?

Any updates or help to correct this?

I still have the problem, but I guess I am used to it being loose now. Can't remember what one shop told me, but it was more than I want to spent at the time.
