Engine Stalling Still A Mystery
My '88 300 TE (wagon) (125,000 mis.) has had a new fuel pump relay, crank sensor relays, and ignition control module replaced in the last few months, and a new fuel pump put in in '99, but the engine still dies while driving, from 30 mph to 50 mph and also at a complete stop. When it dies, the dash lights all come on, and it can be restarted approx. 5-10 seconds later (if you try and turn it over immediately after stalling, it won't--it sounds like it's flooded). My mechanic is completely stymied. Anyone out there know something that hasn't been covered yet in this discussion?
I'd really appreciate it. Thanks. |

Suggestions:
0.- Diagnose thru terminal 3 of module control (Duty Cycle) 1.- Check the fuel pressure regulator 2.- Check the EHA 3.- Microswitch 4.- Ignition Coil (also the wire) 5.- Cap & Rotor

I don't know if your model has an OVP (Over Voltage Protection) relay. If so, it might be the cause.
I had these symptoms on my a 1993 , 220 E model. I hope this would help |

engine dying
My OVP relay was replaced recently. My cruise control has been erratic, so am checking that lead out.

Search for threads started by Ron Johnstone. He has a late 80s 300TE that had similar problems. He changed just about everything in the fuel system to no avail. I don't remember what finally got him back on the road.
