Where are the wires connected to?
Dear friends:
I bought an old 240D where lots of stuff got messed up or disconnected in the engine compartment. Please help me track down where the marked wires in the attached image should be connected to. Thanks a lot. Eric |

Looks like ground wires to me.
On my car, i once found a thick wire which seemed to have broken off from somewhere wihtin the engine bay. Checked and found that it was a ground wire connected to part of the engine behind the distributor cap.Ground wires normally have a loop-like crimp connector, which is what i see in your photo. Anyone? Azhari Babybenz 1991 190e 1.8 |

Before grounding them, put a voltmeter on them with the ignition switch on to see if they are hot.
I have spent a good bit of time with my head stuck under the hood of a 240D but I really don't know what those wires could be. I won't be home until the weekend, but I will try to remember to look in that area. Good luck, |

Dear azhari and LarryBible:
The other ends of those 2 wires are already connected to the engine block, so I believe the open ends must be connected to something else. Unfortunately, I could not find anything around that have missing bolt/screw, except the fact that there seems to be a missing screw on the engine part near the wires as shown in the attached image, but it does not make sense because there's no reason to connect both ends of those wires to the same engine block. Mr. LarryBible: please take a look at your 240D's engine compartment when you go home this weekend. Thanks a lot! Best regards, Eric |
