It sounds as if your washer pump is bad. If you can hear a sound other than your wiper moving when you engage the washer, it is also possible that you have some sediment clogging the lines, prohibiting the cleaner to get through. The pumps are not expensive, only like 30 bucks or so.

Are there any cable(s) I should look for too see if they are unhooked possibly? Should I be able to hear the washer fluid motor in the cabin?

Yes, you should be able to hear the pump motor running if you have the engine off and just the ignition turned on. Just keep the door open and listen with the hood up, they are fairly noisy, make a bit of a whirring sound. It is very audible. Also, find the pump on the side of the canister and make sure it is still hooked up electrically and then trace the fluid hose all the way to the hood to look for discrepencies.
