Transplanting a 6.3/6.9 into a 250SE Coupe

I have a 250SE Coupe with an 6 cylender engine (apart and needs everything).....

I want to use the drive train from a 6.3 sedan and move everything over to my 1965 Coupe....I discussed this idea with some MBZ crazies, they say it can be done easily.....because the components interchange...so I can use the front and rear suspensions....to get the larger brakes etc....Am I crazy....I already have a 6.9 engine and trans...but I think the transplanted 6.3 from a complete car would be the best way to go....

Has any done this...Comments, suggestions, I need HELP....

should I consider the 280SE 4.5 as a better choice...

There is a 280SEC in Charleston SC with a "BLOWN" & nitrous injected 6.3 that makes around 550 HP. The owner said he spent over 1500 hours in the project.
I saw the car at a MB race event at Talladega Ala. WOW!!

I would personally prefer a 6.9 both for the fuel system and the tranny.

I strongly suggest the 6.3 drivetrain. It is much quicker than ANY 6.9, period. One minor detail. Either fabricate or use a parts car 6.3 tranny tunnel. Thats a key error that some have made. It's an absolute. 6.3 parts cars are dirt cheap. It's mechanical fuel injection system when rebuilt is bullet proof if you simply change your oil every 2000 to 3000 miles and or every year. Don't believe me, believe the track slips, they do not lie. You would need to replace the 6.9's rear diff, 3 speed tranny, and completely alter it's motor to simply attempt to catch a 6.3. Then the question is still undecided on that computer fuel injection system. I have given up hope with 6.9s and am a total fan of the 6.3.

Won't fit in a 65, the brake booster will occupy the same space as the left valve cover. MB moved the booster over about 3" on the 68 and later W108/109 to accomodate the V8 -- if you have both side by side, you will notice that the clutch and brake pedals have a differend bend to them. On the early ones, they bend to the left, on the later ones they bend to the right. I don't know if you can modify the mounting to get the necessary clearance or not.
