Cup Holder Question

The front cupholder in my '99 E430 was acting balky, not deploying smoothly, so I used silicone spray to free it up. This did not have the intended effect- it merely got worse. Any experience removing, cleaning and lubing this unit?

Thanks,
Art

Hi Art, remove it and clean all moving parts with compressed air. Don't lube anything. If you've had a few spills try soaking it in warm water first. If that doesn't fix it, replace it.

Thanks- I'll give it a wash and blow dry! Any tips for removal?

Just yank up (with a slight tilt toward the front of the car) and it will come out. Soak in soapy water for an hour. Clean the empty well to remove all the junk that might have fallen in there. Then reinstall (with the cupholder in locked down position), make sure the plastic tabs get fully seated.
