126 SEC Seats in a 123 CD It Can Be Done
I asked this forum some months ago whether 126 SEC seats would fit into a 123 CD, but no one really knew. Well, I'm here to tell you that yes, they do fit. I just installed 1987 SEC heated and powered seats into my wife's 1985 CD.
For those of you who are interested in replacing your worn out CD seats...the SEC front seats bolt right in. The back seats require that you make your own mounting system as the CD back seats are a two piece set up (one piece for the back and one for the seat) and the SEC seats are many pieces. You will also need to make your own wiring harness for the powered and heated seats but it requires only about 20 wires per seat and a set of fuses for the powered part and I think six wires and one relay a piece for the heated part, plus the switches, of course. I put the powered seat switches in the center console beneath the arm rest, as it won't fit without a lot of modification in the doors. So, to all of you who have been thinking of updating the seats in your 123 coupe, it can be done and its not that difficult. If you have questions, I'd be happy to attempt to answer them. I'll try to take some pictures tomorrow. Ray |
