While driving (1992 500SL) I notice that I was unable to accelerate when pressing down the pedal. A while latter the car began to loose speed and I was unable to accelerate. There where no indicator, or warning lamps on. The transmission engages reverse (R ) and (D ) but will not the when pressing the accelerator pedal the car will not accelerate.
Is this an automatic transmission problem? Or an accelerator pedal problem? Please advise |

You may want to check and make sure that the throttle cable is attached under the hood. I have seen them come loose before. If it is on, you have a problem with the electronic accelerator, but it should be in the limp mode so I think that it is cable problem (mechanical failure and not electronic)

You're right, the mechanic diagnosed the problem: The cable connecting the accelerator pedal to the fuel distributor module broke at the point were the module and cable attach.
