380SL AC compressor
 
Since the 380SL uses the Harrison A6 compressor, are there any possiblities to replace it with another type?

I can't think of a single reason to not use the A6 compressor except weight. If I was worried about that I could get in the car anyway.

The GM A6 has got to be one of the cheapest, long lived, HD compressors known to man. So what if it weighs more than 4 POS Nippondensos.
