Noise from rear of car
This is about my 1993 300SE 140 body. I notice that sometimes when I am making a right turn from a stop and gently accelerating I will hear a noise from the left rear wheel area that sounds like metal hitting metal, like the tap of a hammer, once per each rotation of the tire. It only does this once in a while. I removed the rear wheel and checked everything over for anything obvious but could not see anything that appeard out of kilter except for a leaking shock. The sound will last up to 30 MPH or so then quit. And I have put several hundred miles on the car in between times that it will make that sound. Does anybody have any thoughts? I have reviewed the archives on this but nobody seemed to have the exact problem, with a tap once per rev.
