300ce
In what model year did the 300CE get the 4 valve head? Did the variable valve timing modification occur simultaneously, or with another model year?
Thanks, Mark |
If I remember correctly, 1990. All 104's have an advance mechanism on the intake camshaft.

I may be wrong, but the early 3.0 liter M104 used on the 300CE from 1990-1992 did not have variable valve timing on the intake cam. It also still used CIS-E fuel ignition.
The 1993 300CE was the first coupe to get the 3.2 liter M104 engine. |
I think all the M104 engines, including the '90-92 CIS-E models, had the dynamically adjustable intake cam timing, not just the '93 and later HFM-SFI management systems. But I've been wrong before. :)

Paul is almost always right.
But, today, I believe Steve is right. I posted a thread on 300-24 vs 320, apparently, good though 24v 3.0 is compared to the old 12v, the 320 (all 24v) is the one to have if possible - even better torque curve, and less peaky. |
