blower regulator ('95 S320)
My blower regulator seems broken.
Does anyone know where it is located and how involved it is to change?

On top of the blower easily accessed by removing to the side (to avoid undoing vacuum lines)the large flat panel at the middle to right rear of the engine compartment.

Mine broke a few weeks ago, on my car there is a strip fuse in a seperate fuse box that had blown. Check that if your car has it, saved me from apart. Also cost me only $.53

I haf the same problem last year and it cost me $400 for the part, but its probably cheaper in US.

I found it right away, took it out (5 minutes max), checked for any loose connections or anything obvoius. The darn thing looks brand new. It had some white stuff under it (silicone?) and was loose. I would assume it should have been tight. Maybe that's why it broke. I looked at my receipts and I had it fixed by the MB dealer 05-18-2001. Lasted two years, great. Most of the other stuff they have worked on broke earlier or has come loose. But guess how much it was? Labor 264.50 Part 346.80 Misc 15.87 Total: 627.17 They have a license to steal. I just ordered the part again (not fromMB) $156.00 and it litteraly takes 3 minutes to change if you know what to look for. Chris, where is that fuse you mentioned?

Blower regulator woes...
I, too, have a problem with a blower regulator...it seems as if it has gone south. No air flow. I have looked back in the history and see it has been replaced before (32K) and am wondering:
1) Does this happen all the time? 2) Where I can get at this on my '95 S500? I did find this part on the internet for around $190USD and $379 from our favorite MB Dealers... I did replace the fuse...unless I am missing one somewhere. Thanks for the help!! MJW

hey... my w140's regulator just went bad on me too AGAIN.. but have a quick question for the pros... if the freon charge in the AC system is low.. will this interupt the blower function at all??? I do need to recharge teh A/C but i am wondering if this would interupt the blower...

No... refrigerant charge won't affect blower operation.

I have repeatedly changed the regulator.. i have a brand new one.. and it still seems to not work,,, what else can i do??

the blower works sometimes... its just that sometimes the darn thing doesnt want to..
for example.. upon start up.. the blower will start working as if nothin were wrong.. and then u turn it off.. and then next day.. it wont want to work..

Where to look???
I am at a loss as where to tear my engine compartment apart...I have the S500, I am not rich so the old excuse of 'let the dealer' doesn't cut it. I am college educated and think I can find my "BLOWER REGUALTOR" with a little direction....I already purchased one and it arrives tomorrow. If the weather keeps up as it is...I won't need it.
Please advise. (blanket 'please' and 'thank you's' apply...always)

when stating.. ignition switch.. your talking about the actual device with the tumblers???
