The internal temperature probe in my car (1987 260E) is located in the dome light unit. There is a hose which attaches to the probe and runs off somewhere to the "aspirator blower."

Mine is not drawing air and appears to be the cause of the wild fluctuations in the interior temperature. I can't find the pump. Can anyone tell me where it is and possibly a testing or repair procedure?

Thanks, so much!

The pump was located outboard of the glove box, under the connecting hose for the outboard dashboard vent on my 1988 300TE. It could be seen by pulling the glove box. One note about those pumps - they do not draw much flow. I found that mine would just hold a square of tissue up against the grille in the lamp/sunroof switch/aspiator grille unit when the pump was running.

I'm sorry, I forgot all about the pump. Yes the pump is right of the glovebox on my 88 as well. But I understand that on some models it is somewhere around the base of the console on the passenger side, good luck. You can hold a piece of tissue paper near the intake and it will wave in the wind if it is working.
