4 alternators in 1 year?

Hi,

My father's 1989 300TE is on the 4th alternator in less than 1 year. What could be causing this? Dealer did the job, so he has only paid once (they have even covered flatbedding).

Thanks

Cool

Did the service guys check to see if the pulley/belt alignment is correct. If not, it is possible that could lead to increased pressure on the pulley which could quickly break down the bearings on the alternator shaft.

David

What were the alternator failures? Electrical or mechanical? Not charging the battery or bearing failures?
