i had a pair of eurolite crystal white bulbs on my 300e...however, one blew out and i am now considering the HID-look..these bulbs claim to have a white projection with a tint of blue in them to give it the hid look...my experience with the superwhites were good, they were very crisp and white...definitely better than the stock yellow-tinged bulbs...anybody have experience with these HID-look alike white/blue bulbs? do you reccommend them, and exactly how does the output spectrum look like...i dont want to look like one of those civics that has blue lights....thanks....

Hi, you can try the "Search" function on the top, right corner. A lot of thoughts have been given regarding HID-Look bubls.
Anyways, still give some of my opinions. If you gonna go with PIAA, go for over-watt bulbs as the normal watt bulbs will improve nothing but look. Also, B1 is another good company from Japan who also make Superwhite bulbs(which they claim to be whiter, and brighter than PIAA's). Though, I haven't try B1's Superwhite H4, I have tried B1's other SuperWhite bulb(backup lights), and they really are bright, and blue. If you want the looks ONLY, then just go for low priced, Korean made as they burned out alot faster than OE bulbs. But if you are looking to improve your lighting during the night, then, I might suggest you go for Euro Headlight conversion and only then think about put in a over-watt, Superwhite bulbs. edict,
You didn't say what car you're putting these bulbs in. I just put a set of European lights in my 240D this weekend. They are fabulous. I put in OSRAM 60/55 watt H4 bulbs. I have experimented with bulbs on my '88 300E as well and finally settled on standard 9004 ExtraLife Sylvania bulbs. In my experimenting my opinion has come to be that the key is in the reflector and lens, not so much the bulb. The american lights are marginal at best. I live about 20 miles from the main highway and drive alot in the darkness on the narrow, winding two lane paved road, dodging deer and escaped livestock. The European lights in the 123 car have an instrument panel adjustment for elevation. I can raise them on the two lane where there is no traffic, and lower them to normal on the highway. Like the other person responding to your message asked, is your concern how the lights look, or how well you are able to see with the lights? If you want to see, you will gain much more light with European lights and standard Halogen bulbs. The highpower bulbs seem to add a lot of heat inside the light assembly, I believe this would cause problems in the long term.
