1992 500SL. I hear a high pitched whine from time to time, usually on acceleration. I thought that it was a belt slipping, had the tension checked and it was fine. Now I am curious if there is anything in the transmission that could might be the cause? Thanks, JR

I have had a couple of things cause this, the belt, the air pump, and the weird one that was hard to find, the rear tranny seal, I dripped a couple of drops of oil on it and it never did it again, it was dry.

What about vaccum sound? There is this sound like the vaccum pump is working somewhere in the car. It only comes on intermittenly, especially at accelarating. Is that normal? My car is a 95 R129.
